Sterile saline wound wash, 210 ml

$14.00

What it is for A soft foam pad with a silicone adhesive edge. The foam soaks up drainage and holds it away from the wound, while the silicone edge sticks well enough to stay put but releases without pulling at fragile skin. Best suited to wounds with moderate drainage that do not need packing: venous ulcers, pressure injuries at stage 2 or 3, and healing surgical wounds. How to use it
  • Wash your hands and clean the wound with saline.
  • Dry the skin around the wound. The adhesive will not hold on damp skin.
  • Choose a size that extends about 2 cm past the wound edge on all sides.
  • Place the pad over the wound without stretching it, then smooth the border down.
  • Change every two to three days, or sooner if drainage reaches the edge of the pad.

When not to use it

  • On dry wounds or wounds covered in hard black tissue
  • On deep cavity wounds that need packing instead
  • If you have reacted to silicone adhesives before
  • On third-degree burns
